Travis County Construction Projects Underway

A lot of exciting projects are underway in the Austin Area! Tens of millions of dollars of new construction ranging from apartment complexes in South Austin to a $10 million renovation to the UT Austin athletics facility. 

The Texas Department of Licensing and Registration maintains a list of construction projects that will break ground soon. Here’s a look at some Travis County projects coming up, ranked by construction cost:

 $128 million: Austin-Bergstrom International Airport parking garage. Six levels, 5,800 new parking spaces. Completion projected for November 2018. Design firm: PGAL.

• $19 million: Bridge at Cannon View, a 271-unit multifamily development at 2400 E. William Cannon Dr. LDG Development LLC in Louisville, Kentucky, is the developer. Kentucky Architecture Studio LLC, also in Louisville, is the designer. The project is slated to break ground in November and be completed in March 2019.

• $18 million: Element by Westin hotel at 10728 Burnet Road. The owner is DBG Austin Domain LLC, an entity located in Plano, Texas. The six-story hotel is scheduled to break ground later this year and be completed in December 2018. JRK Design Inc. in Fort Worth is the design firm.

 $11.25 million: Another hotel is planned near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Aloft Austin Airport will be a four-story hotel developed by Zenith Hospitality LLC of Austin. Merriman Pitt/Anderson Inc. is the designer. The project is scheduled to deliver in October 2018.

• $10 million: Renovations to the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletic Center at 1301 E. Dean Keeton St. at the University of Texas. The football locker room is included in the project, which is being designed by Gensler. The project is scheduled to be completed in time for the beginning of the school year.

 $7.8 million: Renovations to the HEB Grocery Co. store at 11521 N. FM 620 near Anderson Mill Road. The project is expected to begin in July with completion just after the first of the year. The design is in-house.

• $3.95 million: The first of several remodels for financial services company Capital One will get underway this August at the Littlefield Building, 601 Congress Ave. Capital One is in a rebranding mode and adding cafes to several retail banking locations beginning with one in the heart of downtown Austin. Gensler is the design firm.
