Austin and Travis County Rank High on Fastest Growing ListIn a recent report from the U.S. Census Bureau, both Austin and Travis County ranked high on the list for fastest-growing areas. The data collected to compile these lists constituted birth and death records as well as survey and administrative data collected by the Bureau.

Austin-Round Rock, Texas, ranked 7th among the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country. For this ranking, a metro area is defined as urbanized areas with populations of at least 500,000. Austin experienced a 3 percent growth increase from July 2011 to July 2012.

Travis County also ranked 7th, but in the numeric increase category. During that same year, the county increased by 34,381 residents.
